Santa Monica, Calif. and Austin, Texas - December 22, 2003 - The agreement enables the companies to go to market with service provisioning software that allows end-user customers to properly configure their PCs and related CPE devices for both broadband and Wi-Fi services. The agreement fits within the Boingo® Platform Services Wi-Fi service offering. “Boingo believes that the leading Wi-Fi providers will be those voice, data, or Internet service providers that can effectively bring the service to their large customer bases,” said Dave Hagan, Boingo president and COO. “From a customer’s perspective, a broadband and Wi-Fi bundled service is very natural because once users are accustomed to the speed of broadband in their home or office, they don’t want to return to dial-up speeds on the road.” “Partnerships with companies like Boingo have enabled Motive to give carriers a competitive edge, allowing them to stay ahead of CPE deployment complexities and bring new services to market quickly and cost-effectively,” said Kenny Van Zant, executive vice president of Motive’s Consumer Business Unit. “Bringing technology from market leaders in both broadband and Wi-Fi together in one offering creates a compelling solution.” Among broader service management capabilities, Motive’s software allows carriers to seamlessly deploy DSL modems, cable modems, and other residential gateway devices, reducing the cost and time to market for launching new services. Boingo is the leading Wi-Fi network aggregator partnering more than 50 hot spot operators to build a roaming system with more than 5,000 Wi-Fi hot spots under contract in the U.S., Europe, Japan, Australia, Latin America, India and Canada. Through Boingo Platform Services, the company packages its roaming system with its award-winning client software and back-office services for managing roaming and billing, and provides it on a completely private-label basis to carriers, managed service providers and ISPs. Boingo’s announced Platform Services partners include EarthLink, Fiberlink, Infonet Services Corp., MCI, Telecom Italia and T-Mobile USA.
