Dual-network service offerings allow wireless subscribers to move seamlessly between Wi-Fi hot spots and wireless wide area networks benefiting from the high bandwidth of Wi-Fi and from ubiquitous GPRS network availability. Boingo will show a new version of its “Wi-WAN™” end-user software that provides subscribers with a simple way to detect both GPRS and Wi-Fi signals and to choose the network type that is most appropriate for their situation. Also on display is TSI’s EAP-SIM (Extensible Authentication Protocol - Subscriber Identity Module) authentication service that allows GSM operators to leverage their existing investment in SIM authentication infrastructure used to support voice and GPRS subscribers.
