Former EarthLink Executive Will Oversee Operations of Rapidly Expanding Boingo Roaming System SANTA MONICA, Calif. - June 1, 2004 - Irwin will report to Dave Hagan, Boingo president and COO, and will play a key role in the future success of the Boingo Roaming System, the company's suite of back-office Wi-Fi hot spot roaming, billing, mediation and clearinghouse services. The system already integrates more than 7,500 Wi-Fi hot spots worldwide from 75 network partners. "Jon joins Boingo just as our network is hitting critical mass. Through our ongoing sales initiatives and new ventures - like the recently announced Hot Spot in a Box® for small businesses - we are rapidly adding new partners and customers to the network," said Dave Hagan. "I am confident that Jon's experience and work ethic will help us maintain high levels of customer service in the face of this growth." Irwin has held a number of key customer service and operations positions prior to Boingo, most recently as vice president of service delivery at Boingo partner, Infonet. Prior to that, he spent eight years at EarthLink. Irwin's work at EarthLink coincided with its growth from a $2 million regional ISP to a $1.4 billion national leader. He was, at times, responsible for customer support, operations, product development and leading EarthLink's move into broadband services. Irwin attended the University of California at Los Angeles, where he earned an MBA, and the University of California at San Diego where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in systems engineering.
